From Imaam al-Dhahabi (rahimahullaah) who narrates in al-Siyar, the following:

Isma'eel bin Abee Uwais said: Imaam Maalik became sick, so I asked some of our people what it was that he said at the point of death. They said that he uttered the testimony of faith and then he said (لِلَّهِ الْأَمْرُ مِن قَبْلُ وَمِن بَعْدُ) "Unto Allaah is the affair, before as well as after." (Ar-Rum: 4).

The Imaam Al-Faqeeh 'Abdul-'Azeez bin Abee Haazim died whilst he was in prostration.

Aboo Bakr Al-'Atwee said: I was with Al-Junaid when death came to him. So he completed the recitation of the Qur'aan and began again with Soorah Al-Baqarah, he recited seventy aayaat and then died.

The Imaam Al-Haafidh Aboo Bakr Ahmad bin Muhammad Ad-Dainooree well known as As-Sunni used to write ahaadeeth. This was until he placed his pen into the inkwell and raised his hands calling upon Allaah The Mighty and Majestic and thereupon died. He is the one who abridged the Sunan of an-Nasaa'ee.

The Allaamah the Shaikh of the Shaafi'ees Aboo Sa'ad Isma'eel bin Al-Imaam Shaikh ul-Islaam Abee Bakr al-Isma'eelee died having been ennobled by Allaah in the Maghrib prayer as he recited (إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ) "You (alone) we worship; and You (alone) we ask for help"(Al-Faatihah: 5), and thereupon his soul left him, may Allaah have mercy upon him.

'Alee bin Ahmad Al-Haafidh said: Abul Waleed bin Al-Fardee informed me saying: I once held on to the drape (covering) of the Ka'bah, and I asked Allaah The Most High for martyrdom. Then I thought about the horror of battle and felt regretful and I intended to return and uphold and maintain that with Allaah but was ashamed to do so. Al-Haafidh 'Alee said: Someone who saw him (Abul Waleed) between the combatants on the day of the conquest of Cordoba informed me that he drew close to him and so heard him say in a weak voice: "Whoever is wounded in the cause of Allaah, and Allaah is Most Knowledgeable of who is wounded in His cause will not come on The Day of Judgement except that his wounds will stream with blood, the colour being the colour of blood, and the smell being the smell of musk." [Reported by Al-Bukhaaree and Muslim]. It was as though he was repeating the hadeeth to himself. Then he died immediately after that, may Allah have mercy upon Him.
