From Imaam al-Dhahabi (rahimahullaah) who narrates in al-Siyar, the following:

The Shaikh, the Imaam Al-'Allaamah, the Mufti of Ash-Shaam Jamaalul Islaam Abul Hasan 'Alee bin Al-Muslim Ad-Dimashqee Ash-Shaafi'ee died in prostration whilst he was in the Fajr prayer.

When Shaikh Abul Barakaat Isma'eel bin Abee Sa'ad An-Naisabooree neared death it was said to him, "What do you feel (perceive)" However; he was unable to speak, so he wrote on the hand of the questioner, (فَرَوْحٌ وَرَيْحَانٌ وَجَنَّةُ نَعِيمٍ) "[For him shall be] comfort and Rayhaan [pleasing forms of provision and fragrance] and a garden of delights" (Al-Waaqi'ah:89) then he died.

When the Imaam Az-Zaahid Abul Waqt As-Sijzi was at the point of death, it was said to him: the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said: "Whosoevers final statement is laa ihlaaha illallaah will enter Paradise" [Reported by Ahmad and Abu Dawood]. So he raised his glance to the speaker and recited (يَا لَيْتَ قَوْمِي يَعْلَمُونَ بِمَا غَفَرَ لِي رَبِّي وَجَعَلَنِي مِنَ الْمُكْرَمِينَ) "Would that my people knew. With what [munificence] my Lord has forgiven me and made me of the honoured ones" (Ya-sin: 26-27). He (the speaker) was astonished at this as were the rest of those who were present. He did not cease reading until he completed the soorah, and he died as he sat on his prayer mat.

When death came to Sultaan Salaahudeen Al-Ayyoobi, Aboo Ja'far Al-Qurtubi the Imaam of Al-Kallaasah explains: I finished reciting up to His saying The Most High (هُوَ اللَّهُ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ عَالِمُ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ هُوَ الرَّحْمَنُ الرَّحِيمُ) "He is Allaah, beside Whom none has the right to be worshiped but He. The All-Knower of the unseen and the seen..." (Al-Hashr: 22). Then I heard Salaahudeen say: "Saheeh, (correct)." This was whilst Sultaan Salaahudeen Al-Ayyoobi had lost consciousness prior to this, and then he died. Al-Khateeb Ad-Dawla'ee then performed the bathing rites and after he was led out on in a casket. Qaadhi Muhyideen ibn Az-Zakkee led the prayer over him and thereupon he was returned to the house located in the orchard in which he had been sick. He was buried in as-Saffah, and voices were raised from the crying, and the noise became immense such that one possessing intellect would have imagined that the whole world in its entirety was crying out in a single voice. The people were swooning due to what was preoccupying them from praying over him. The people felt immense sorrow for him - even the Franks (Europeans) - due to what had been acknowledged of his true faithfulness.
